Urban villages have always been seen as the urban slum in Chinese context, which in fact were the epitome and consequence of the rapid urbanization in China. Migrant workers, a special group of population who live in the urban villages with rural background become the driving force of the urban development. However, the social-economical struggle and class contradictions lead to the collapse of Chinese urbanisation, and urban villages were forced to seek for a transformation and sustainable development under such circumstances. The research project aims to revert the lost of farmland back to the city, and create a post rural solution to Chinese megacities. Architecture works as a framework to re-regulate the informality and providing a transient during the process.
